Frequently Asked Questions
How do I book an appointment?
Please get in touch via email or phone letting us know what support you are looking for and your preferred session time. Our counsellor will then get in touch to discuss further. Click below to reach the "Contact us" Page
What will happen during my first appointment?
Your first session gives you the chance to see how you find the counselling experience. You will be able to explain what is going on for you and what support you would like from counselling. We will go through a counselling agreement that outlines ethical obligations, confidentiality and other information about our work together. Towards the end of your first session we will be able to speak about what you want to do going forward with future sessions.
How long is each session?
Each session will normally last 50 minutes.
What Counselling skills do you use?
New Horizon Counselling adopts a integrative approach, integrating Person Centred therapy and Psychodynamic theory. These approaches can work hand in hand around your individual needs.
How long will I need Counselling?
The time is yours to use how you wish, you may prefer short term Counselling lasting a few weeks, or ongoing open ended Counselling. This will depend on your needs and we will be able to discuss how many sessions might work for you in the initial session.
If I don't attend do I still have to pay?
Cancellation of an appointment with less than 24 hours’ notice, or failure to attend will incur the full fee of the session. We understand life circumstances and illness can be unavoidable and we can discuss the circumstances in the event you need to cancel at short notice.
